Approach

Families come to me so their children can thrive.

01

An honest diagnosis

A first consultation establishes what the student can already do, what their goal is, and what needs to be achieved.

02

A goal-oriented plan

Whether the aim is significant progress over one term or steady work across two or more years, our route is tailored to the student's needs.

03

Engaging, productive lessons

We practise closely reading and annotating texts, polishing written expression and revising effectively. If appropriate, homework is assigned.

04

Parents kept informed

I provide feedback in an agreed-upon format, verbal or written. I summarise our progress and propose the next steps.

About

Anna-Vibeke Eilert

Educator & linguist

Born to Scandinavian parents, I spent my childhood in Australia and Japan, where I earned my IB Diploma. After studies at the University of Lund in Sweden and at the Alliance Française in Paris, I completed my BA in Literature at St. Olaf College, Minnesota and briefly taught English at the UN International School in New York. From 1995–1996 I taught English at East China Normal University in Shanghai.

I certified as a teacher of Danish to immigrant adults whilst studying for my MA in Literature at the University of Copenhagen. Alongside my studies, I guided tours to China, India, Nepal and Japan, effectively teaching history, geography, culture and the arts. Then, in Italy, I taught English at a military base in Montecassino and guided tours in Rome and the Vatican.

In 2002 I moved to London, attained my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, and was employed by King's College School, Wimbledon, to teach English and Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma and to establish a department of Chinese. I became an IB examiner and workshop leader, and deputy head of IB. A trained yoga teacher, I established a successful yoga programme to complement students' academic lives.

After twenty years at King's College School, I moved to Sevenoaks School, Kent, and continued teaching English Literature, Theory of Knowledge and teen yoga. I established a thriving partnership with two education centres in Laos, enabling IB students to teach English conversation online to Laotian students.

In July 2026 I returned to the university town of Lund in southern Sweden. Now working as a private tutor, I meet the needs of individual students worldwide as they develop their skills in language and literary analysis, and as they prepare for entrance exams to schools and universities.

My strengths lie in my natural ability to connect with students from a wide range of backgrounds and in supporting them to achieve to their highest potential. A teacher at heart, I look forward to working with you.
